First time navigating to your site and what a treat this was to find, until I read it and sat here relating to Jake in a whole new way. This is both my writer friend and I, every day, and as much as we try with our book to ‘be the change you want to see in the world’ (of comics) by creating women as characters instead of plot devices, it looks like a ridiculously huge uphill battle we can’t and won’t ever win. The world’s perception of women as victims into perpetuity, as PMSing when she voices her opinion (if her opinion isn’t blamed on being hysterical and in need of a good ‘straightening out’) and so on needs to go; as does how strongly the weight of her merit, intelligence, depth of personality and capacity for logic rely on how she pretty she is.
This was, like every page of your brilliant Regarding Dandelions, was brilliant. Thank you so very much for making me a Regarder.
